Cabinet reshuffle will not improve UPA Government's image: BJP

Chandigarh , Sat, 27 Oct 2012 ANI

Chandigarh, Oct 27 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday termed the Union cabinet reshuffle as an exercise in vain, saying it will not help in refurbishing the image of the government, which is embroiled in corruption.

Senior BJP leader Rudy said in the backdrop of a major Union government alliance partner Trinamool Congress withdrawing its support, the government should have sought a mandate in Parliament and they should prove their majority before going for this exercise.

"The Bharatiya Janata Party feels this is an exercise in vain and this exercise will fail to refurbish the image of the government. But the reality is this UPA government headed by Manmohan Singh ji has lost the mandate, it does not have a mandate anymore," said Rudy.

The Indian Government is all set to undergo a major revamp, as several senior cabinet ministers tendered their resignation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Saturday.

There was speculation about the reshuffle because many berths in the cabinet were left vacant in wake of the resignation of Trinamool Congress and Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam representatives.

Speaking about the graft charges levelled on their party chief Nitin Gadkari, Rudy said the party is standing in support of their chief and is ready for any kind of investigation.

Rudy further raked up improper business dealings of Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, with property developer DLF Limited and sought an enquiry into the matter.

Vadra was alleged to be involved in improper business dealings with property developer DLF Limited.

Rudy also said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had two credentials to his name, first, as an accomplished economist and second was his honesty. Unfortunately both the images have atken beating during his second tenure. (ANI)
