London, Oct 27(ANI): The International Cycling Union (UCI) has decided not to reallocate banned Lance Armstrong's seven Tour de France titles to any other rider, declaring the American's era as a dark period in the sport.
The UCI attempted to claw back some credibility with a string of decisions at an emergency meeting of its management committee in Geneva.
These decisions include a demand that Armstrong return around four million pounds in prize money and the establishment of an independent commission to examine corruption allegations levelled at the governing body itself.
The Tour de France results of Armstrong and other riders implicated in the United States Anti-Doping report from 1998-2005 have been obliterated, and the UCI have decided not to upgrade any other competitors, due to the widespread doping in the peloton. (ANI)
