Palampur (Himachal Pradesh), Oct 27 (IANS) BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said Saturday Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was "heading the most corrupt and insensitive" government in the country.
Addressing an election rally here, she accused the prime minister of shifting the blame for scams on ministers. The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha claimed that the prime minister could not escape responsibility, being the head of the cabinet.
"The prime minister is surrounded by corrupt people, but as head of the cabinet, he can't escape responsibility," she said.
Sushma Swaraj said she had held the prime minister accountable in parliament, but he had not responded. "As the prime minister, he can't shift the blame. He has to be morally accountable," she said.
She however evaded questions posed to her by media people about allegations of corrupt dealings against BJP president Nitin Gadkari.
"Gadkari has himself said that he is ready to face a probe," she said.
Assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh will take place Nov 4.
