Chennai, Oct 24 (IANS) French consulting, technology and outsourcing service provider Capgemini Wednesday expanded its Indian business process outsourcing (BPO) operations, opening a new 300-seat facility in Tiruchirapalli (Trichy), around 450 km from here.
In a statement issued here, the company said the Trichy facility will be the company's second spoke-location after its centre in Salem, that was opened in 2008.
Capgemini said it is following hub-and-spoke delivery network model in India. The 18,000 square feet Trichy centre will be the spoke location for hubs in Chennai and Bangalore. In India, Capgemini has employed around 6,500 full-time staff in its BPO operations.
Over 200 employees have been hired in Trichy and nearly two-thirds of the number are women.
"The Trichy facility is part of Capgemini India's ongoing expansion strategy for its BPO services. Having strengthened our presence in the key cities of the country, we are keen to leverage the talent pool of tier 3 cities for servicing our global clients, based on our domain specialisation in finance and accounting outsourcing, procurement and supply chain management," B.L. Narayan, head of Capgemini India, said in the statement.
In India, Capgemini's BPO unit delivers finance and accounting, management assurance, engineering services, content management, research and advisory, supply chain management, procurement services and human resources outsourcing services to more than 25 large international clients across its centres in Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Salem and now Trichy.
