Imphal (Manipur), Oct.24 (ANI): The "New Generations - Independent Indian Film Festival" organised in Frankfurt, Germany has shortlisted 'Noong Amadi Yeroom' (Rock and Egg), a short fiction film, directed by Manipuri filmmaker Romi Meitei.

The 14-minute film has been critically acclaimed at other film festivals, including IFFI, Indian Panorama 2011, IFFSK Kerala, ICFFI and Boston.

According to media reports, Meitei is responsible for the transformation of the film industry in Manipur, with his noted contribution of 35 feature and three short fiction films.

Underground groups had placed a ban on Bollywood movies and commercial cinema, which gave rise to talented filmmakers coming out of their shell and exploring several unknown subjects.

Meitei's film would be screened on November 9, the first day of the three-day long film festival.

The film depicts how a son lives in perpetual fear of his father, who unnecessarily exerts pressure on him all the time.

The young boy gives up his virtues and indulges in wrongful activities.

"I am very happy. Also, this is the first time in Germany; my film is being screened on the premiere. I am very happy about that. Actually, Rock and Egg contains all stories that give a message to the parents. Now, I am a father of two children. If we pressurise our children, human virtues will be compromised at any time. As we have seen in my film, the boy started stealing money from his strict father. So, this is how a boy or a child, how he compromises with human virtues. The children are our future. We should nourish them with utmost care. Otherwise, we will lose our hope and future," said Meitei.

Meitei said it was difficult for him to find props that matched the film's storyline.

"Regarding the making of this film Rock and Egg, now it is very hard to find such kind of locations. It is very hard to find such traditional houses. There were many houses, but not of my choice. So, I found something that was similar to my choice and the colour was not exactly how traditional houses are. If the structure is fine, we rebuild the house, so that the touch of village house...feels to the audience. Even the clay pipe, no one is using it in remote places also," he said.

Meitei's new film 'My Home' would be shot in January 2013. (ANI)
