Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover workers accept 2-yr pay deal with 9.8% hike

London, Wed, 24 Oct 2012 ANI

London, Oct. 24 (ANI): Workers at Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover have accepted a two-year pay deal worth up to 9.8 percent, according to a report.

Unite members at Castle Bromwich and Solihull in the West Midlands and Halewood, Merseyside, voted 3-1 in favour.

"The deal is nothing less than the workforce deserve," the Daily Star quoted a Unite spokesman, as saying.

The huge pay rise comes in the wake of booming demand for luxury motors.

Unite has about 17,000 members at JLR, which makes the iconic Jaguar and Land Rover.

According to the report, from November 2,400 agency workers with JLR will become permanent employees, a move that has been welcomed by union leaders.

The carmaker also reported a 34 percent jump in sales in the three months to July, selling 83,452 vehicles. (ANI)
