Kathua, Oct 23 (ANI): Indian and Pakistani wrestlers took part in a free style wrestling competition under the banner of "Mission Dosti" in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The manager of the Pakistani team, Mohammad Tariq said on Monday that efforts should be made to enhance the relations between India and Pakistan.

"We have come here for the second time and they have welcomed us with open arms. This encourages us to come again and again. I think that India and Pakistan can progress if the governments of both the countries take steps to facilitate the movement of people from one country to another. We should make efforts to promote our culture and spread awareness and this will enhance the relations between India and Pakistan," said Tariq.

The flags of India and Pakistan were unfurled at the sports stadium, spreading the message of peace and friendship between both the countries.

Around seven Pakistani wrestlers participated in the championship and two wrestlers from Ukraine also took part.

A Pakistani wrestler, Ghulam Mustaq said that the relations between India and Pakistan should strengthen so that we can easily come and visit the place.

"It is a nice place and I am very happy to come over here. If the relations strengthen then it is good as I want to roam around and see the place. We have lot of craze to visit the place. We want that borders should be opened so that we can come here. You should also come and visit Pakistan. I am feeling good after seeing such a huge crowd," said Mustaq.

The Pakistani wrestlers won in freestyle wrestling at the championship.

In April this year, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari visited India, the first trip by a Pakistani head of state in seven years. Last year Pakistan promised India most-favoured nation trading status. (ANI)
