New Delhi, Oct 23 (ANI): The Congress and Samajwadi party today slammed BJP chief Nitin Gadkari over misappropriate funding for his personal business.
Gadkari faced fresh blows after national daily revealed reports of his involvement in dubious financial dealings.
According to the report in the media, 18 companies which own 80 percent of the shares in Purti Group, owned by him, are not located on the addresses mentioned on the website of the company.
Reacting to the news, Congress spokesperson, Rashid Alvi said that Gadkari must clear his stand.
"Congress party does not attack any other party without any reason. However, the reports that have surfaced in the newspaper against India's main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Gadkari are very serious. Definitely, not only the matter should be probed, but he should himself come forward and clarify the issue," he said on Tuesday.
India's anti-graft activist, Arvind Kejriwal had targeted Gadkari accusing him of being involved in the dealings.
In sharp criticism of Gadkari, leader Samajwadi Party, Ram Asrey Kushwaha said in Kanpur city of northern Uttar Pradesh state on Tuesday that most of the BJP leaders are corrupt.
"This issue should have been raised earlier the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expert in corruption and have been involved in scams. Names of the other senior leaders of BJP have also surfaced in the scams. And now it has also been revealed that they are running companies in the name of their drivers and other employees," he said.
Kushwaha demanded for a probe and Gadkari's resignation from his post. (ANI)
