Srinagar, Oct.16 (ANI): Government employees protested here on Tuesday over a demand for increasing the retirement age, providing them their salary arrears and regularisation of services of ad-hoc workers.
Members of Jammu and Kashmir Secretariat Employees Federation demonstrated against the government, as they demanded raising their retirement age from the existing 58 years to 60 years.
The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Secretariat Employees Federation, Shabeer Ahmad Baba, expressed his ire over the non-implementation of the agreement signed with the government in July over increasing the retirement age.
"We have organised a protest over the non-implementation of the agreement on the retirement age which we had signed with the government in July. The other issues are pay anomalies, regularisation of ad-hoc employees and there are other issues within the secretariat and the most important of which is the issue of electricity," said Ahmad.
Baba also said the government should find a solution to all the problems.
"We demand that the government should implement the agreement signed in July and should look into the matters within the secretariat and find a solution to it," he added.
The protesters also demanded for regularisation of services of daily wage and ad-hoc employees working in various government departments and payment of arrears as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.
The protestors threatened that if the government failed to take stern action then there will be mass protest.
Recently, protests and demonstrations have become the norm of the day as the people in the province vent their anger against the government led by Omar Abdullah, which is marred by corruption and has failed to address their woes. (ANI)
