Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), Oct. 15 (ANI): Exiled Tibetans performed special prayers for global peace in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.

Scores of people thronged the Kardang Monastery in Kullu district to witness the traditional rituals, which were performed during the two-day long preaching session.

Speaking to reporters, Pulzor Lama said the aim of the preaching session was to pray for world peace.

"Our motive behind these prayers is to pray for world peace and to see that people do not indulge in 10 sinful activities listed in Buddhism," said Pulzor Lama.

He added that through these prayers the Tibetans want to guide people to follow path of love and peace.

"Through prayers we guide people not to indulge in robbery, murder or misbehaviour. Motive of this preaching session is to tell people how not to indulge in bad deeds and do good," said Pulzor Lama.

An estimated 80,000 Tibetans, along with the Dalai Lama, arrived in India in 1959 after an unsuccessful uprising against Chinese rule.

China has ruled Tibet since 1950, when Communist troops marched in and announced its "peaceful liberation".

The Dalai Lama has accused China of "cultural genocide".

Beijing, on the other hand, considers the Dalai Lama a separatist and does not trust his insistence that he only wants greater autonomy for Tibet. (ANI)
