Johannesburg, Oct. 9 (ANI): Football clubs of the six most important European leagues are for the first time earning more than 500 million euros in 'shirt sponsorship' deals this season, a new study has revealed.
The clubs from the English, Spanish, Italian, German, French and Dutch leagues are earning a total of 522 million euros from shirt sponsorship deals, according to the study by Sport+Markt, a research and consultancy firm.
Its annual 'European Jersey Report' showed that the 20 teams of England's Premier League top the earnings with about 148.7 million euros, followed by Germany's 18 Bundesliga clubs with 119.8 million euros, Sport24 reports.
According to the study, Spanish club, Barcelona has the most lucrative shirt sponsorship deal, worth 30 million euros with Qatar Foundation, followed by Manchester United with AON and Liverpool with Standard Chartered, both on 25 million euros.
Real Madrid who have their deal with bwin and Bayern Munich, whose shirts are being sponsored by Deutsche Telekom, are next on the list with deals worth 23 million euros each, the report said.
The study is the result of the Cologne-based company's own research and expertise, with figures not taking into account any possible bonus payments, it added. (ANI)
