Gorakhpur, Oct. 3 (ANI): People residing in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district are living in fear with apprehensions of being affected by dengue fever, as the number of cases is increasing with each passing day.
Medical authorities have swung into action after the reported surge in patients ailing with the fever.
Amit Gupta, a victim, said that among the various symptoms he was suffering from were severe indigestion and vomiting.
"I suddenly started to feel very cold and unwell, and after that I started vomiting. I vomited for about four to five times continuously. In the next two days, I could not digest anything I ate and vomited," said Gupta.
According to doctors, at least six confirmed cases of dengue have been admitted. However, there have been no fatal causalities till now.
Senior medical specialist at Shri Gorakshaknath Hospital, Dr. Avdhesh Aggarwal, said locals should be alert in preventing the disease.
"If we are alert right now and kill mosquitoes by spraying insecticide and if the patients are cured on time, only then we will be able to control the outbreak," said Dr. Avdhesh Aggarwal.
The disease is not spread from person to person but only through bite of an infected mosquito. Symptoms for dengue include sudden onset of a flu-like illness with fever, muscle pain, headache and rashes. (ANI)
