London, Oct 2 (ANI): Champion cyclist Lance Armstrong has won his first triathlon in record time since receiving a lifetime ban from the sport by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), who had also claimed to strip him of his cycling accomplishments.
Armstrong, 41, completed the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and 13.1-mile run in the Superfrog Triathlon in a record time of three hours, 49 minutes and 45 seconds.
"Had a helluva good time in the @superfrogtri today. Thx to all who came out and like always, a massive thanks to all the volunteers!" the Daily Mail quoted Armstrong, as tweeting after the race.
Before starting the race, a defiant Armstrong had declared, "I am not banned from life."
According to the paper, all the proceeds of the 'Superfrog Triathlon' would go towards the Navy Seal Foundation after members of the Navy Seals designed the tough route in 1979.
Armstrong became a heroic figure in the sporting world after coming back from losing one testicle to cancer and went on to win the Tour De France for a record-breaking number of seven times, the paper said.
His sporting career has been mired in controversy and doping allegations over the last few months, which may result in the revocation of all his cycling achievements. (ANI)
