Chennai, Oct 1 (IANS) TVS Motor Company Ltd., two- and three-wheeler maker, closed last month selling 170,097 units, down from 219,369 units sold during September 2011.
In a statement issued Monday, the company said it had sold 149,191 two-wheelers in the domestic market last month as against 192,027 units sold in September 2011.
The company said against 215,690 units of two-wheelers and 3,679 units of three-wheelers in September 2011, it sold 165,092 units two-wheelers and 5,005 units of three wheelers in September 2012.
TVS Motor exported 18,818 units last month as compared to 25,973 units shipped out in the same month of the previous year.
According to TVS Motor, higher sales of the previous year can be attributed to the onset of the festival season which falls in the month of November this year.
Last month, the company launched 125cc motorcycle Phoenix in the premium executive segment.
