Gurgaon, Sep 26 (IANS) A school bus driver was arrested here Wednesday after he ran over a student killing him, a police official said.
Akshay Kumar, 7, a student of Class 2, died after coming under the front wheel of the bus. He died on the spot, said a police official. He was the only child of his parents.
The bus was carrying nearly 50 children to school Wednesday morning.
The incident took place in the campus of M.D. Senior Secondary School Khod in Pataudi sub-division, 25 km from here.
"The driver of the bus has been booked under sections 279 and 304 A," Assistant Commissioner of Police (Pataudi) Bir Singh told IANS.
The accused has been identified as Bhim Singh of village Khod. Police arrested him after he surrendered.
District Education Officer (DEO) Manoj Kaushik said a separate inquiry was being conducted by the education department and appropriate action would be taken against the school authorities, if found guilty.
Shri Bhagwan, the chairman of the school, said the driver had joined work just two days ago.
