Mumbai, Sep.26 (ANI): The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has delayed a crucial meeting of its leadership to mourn the loss of one of its stalwarts, Babasaheb Kupekar, who died early this morning.
The meeting is scheduled to discuss the resignation of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and 19 other ministers from the state cabinet.
The meeting is now scheduled for 2 p.m. at Vidhan Bhavan building.
Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former speaker Krishnarao R. Desai, alias Babasaheb Kupekar, passed away following prolonged illness at the Jaslok Hospital here. He was 70.
Kupekar was being treated for cancer. He is survived by his wife Sandhya and three daughters.
He was the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from 2004 to 2009. (ANI)
