Melbourne, September 21 (ANI): A new airline seat design is taking on one of the most annoying parts of air travel - not having to wait behind other passengers as they struggle down the aisle and slowly load their bags into the overhead lockers, by aiming to make boarding quicker and easier.
Molon Labe Designa, US company that is led by retired Australian Navy test pilot Kevin Van Liere, claims its Side-Slip Seat could cut boarding times in half.
It has an aisle seat that slides on top of the middle seat, expanding the aisle space from 48 centimetres to 109cm so that passengers are more easily able to walk around others.
The seat, which will be light on cushioning and non-reclinable, will be returned to its normal position once boarding is over.
"I'm not going to tell you it's a comfortable seat," News.com.au quoted Hank Scott, founder of the company, as saying.
"It's a quick, turn-around seat," Scott said.
The seat would also save money on the part of airlines and passengers by limiting the amount of time planes sit on the tarmac, and will also cut fuel costs. (ANI)
