New Delhi, Sept 10 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna on Monday sought a report from the Indian mission over the decision of child service authorities in New Jersey to restrict access to an Indian couple to their one-year-old son.
Debashis and Pamela have been denied access to their son Indrashish by hospital authorities in New Jersey, on the pretext that the couple had failed to take proper care of the child, who underwent surgery after falling off the bed on August 9.
Indrasish's grandparents, Nirmal and Sonarani Saha, recently said that he fell from the bed when his mother was cooking and his father was in the office.
Nirmal Saha had said Indrashish was immediately rushed to a state-owned hospital where he was admitted by doctors and underwent a surgery.
The child's grandfather said that after Indrashish got well, his parents wanted to take him home but the hospital authorities refused to hand him over to them as the Child Protection Organisation alleged that the parents had failed to take proper care of him.
He said that he had appealed to the President, the Prime Minister and the West Bengal Chief Minister for help, and added that his son Debashis rang up Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee for help, who assured him of taking up the matter with chief minister Mamata Banerjee. (ANI)
