Ranchi, Sep 8 (ANI): Union Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahay on Saturday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for targeting him in connection with the coal blocks allocation scam.
Sahay accused the BJP leaders of indulging in 'cheap politics.
"The Delhi High Court has cleared me in its two judgments in which all key points were mentioned and there is nothing more to be discussed. This is a conspiracy and is happening under the purview of somebody," said Sahay.
"Everybody is aware of the judgment. Those people, who have raised question against me, are playing cheap politics," he added.
Sahay alleged that the BJP disrupted the proceedings in the Monsoon Session of Parliament in a bid to protect its party leaders involved in the coal scam.
"The investigation by the Bharatiya Janata Party is totally illogical. The BJP did not let the Parliament to function because if the issue is discussed then the BJP will not be able to deny about its involvement in coal scam," he said.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren said that he was not afraid of facing any investigation in connection with the ongoing row over the allocation of coal blocks.
"Let them investigate; I am not afraid of anything. The Central Government is accountable for coal blocks allocation. They should get to the root of the entire scam," he said.
Soren held the ruling Congress Party solely accountable for the allocation of coal blocks, and urged the Centre and state governments to conduct a fair probe in the matter.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, had yesterday blamed the BJP for disrupting the Monsoon Session of Parliament over the coal blocks allocation issue, and described the inactivity as "a negation of democracy".
He said there were important issues that needed to be discussed and resolved in Parliament.
Reiterating the UPA Government's stand on the coal blocks allocation issue, Dr. Singh said his government has great respect for the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, but retained the right to question its findings on coal block allocations, besides other issues.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament was adjourned sine die earlier on Friday, as the BJP-led opposition remained adamant on its demand for the Prime Minister's resignation over the coal blocks allocation issue.
The coal scandal dominated the Monsoon Session of Parliament after the CAG report said that the under-priced sales of coalfields would have cost the national exchequer as much as 33 billion dollars in lost revenues.
The BJP has been demanding the resignation of Dr. Singh since he headed the Coal Ministry between 2006 and 2009, when many of the sales occurred. (ANI)
