Jalandhar, Sep 3 (IANS) In one of the biggest seizures of cocaine in Punjab's Jalandhar district, police Monday recovered 1.5 kg of the contraband from a Canadian citizen. The consignment is worth over Rs.15 crore in the international market, an official said here.
The recovery was made from Kartarpur area of Jalandhar district, rural district police chief Y.S. Hayer said.
He added the recovery was made following a tip-off about the consignment being delivered near Jalandhar city, about 150 km from Chandigarh.
Police have arrested Canadian citizen John Mensah. However, his accomplice Satnam Singh, a Canada-based Non-Resident Indian (NRI), managed to escape.
Hayer said Mensah was being interrogated.
