Agartala, Sep 2 (IANS) A court in Tripura has jailed a police officer for 10 years for raping a minor girl, an official said here Sunday.
"Additional district and sessions judge of Khowai Udit Chowdhury Saturday pronounced rigorous imprisonment of 10 years to inspector Dilip Guha for raping a minor girl. Guha's domestic help Minati Das was also sent to jail for three years," a police officer told reporters.
The judge also fined Guha and Das Rs.5,000 and Rs.1,000 respectively.
In Oct 2010, a 10-year-old girl was forcefully handed over by Minati to Guha, then chief of the Kamalpur police station, who raped her in his official residence, the official added.
Later, the victim's father lodged a complain at the Kalyanpur police station in western Tripura which led to the arrest of the duo.
