Gerrard admits he may never fulfill 'greatest' dream of lifting PL trophy

London , Wed, 29 Aug 2012 ANI

London, Aug 29(ANI): Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted his illustrious career might end without winning a Premier League trophy, but believes the Reds can still fight for the domestic glory in coming seasons, provided they perform consistently.

Ex-England boss Sven Goran Eriksson had earlier called for the midfielder to quit Liverpool to finally win the title.

Liverpool won the League Cup last season and reached the FA Cup final but were a massive 37 points off the top.

"Hopefully, before I hang my boots up, I can realise the dream of winning it - but I'm also realistic as well," The Sun quoted Gerrard, as saying.

"I don't think we're miles away. Of course we have to be realistic, we finished eighth in the league last year but we got to two major cup finals which shows we can compete with anyone on our day," he added.

"If we find a better level of consistency we can find ourselves higher up the table than last year," he said. (ANI)
