London, Aug 27(ANI): Former Manchester United captain David Beckham has been voted football's number one role model, beating legendary players like Sir Bobby Charlton and Pele.
Apart from Beckham, Charlton and Pele, the likes of Gary Lineker, George Best, Sir Bobby Moore and Alan Ball were also on the list.
Beckham, who is a dad of four, has launched several kids' football academies and played a huge role as an Ambassador of the London 2012 Olympic Games, which all contributed to him winning a pole conducted by Bookmaker Coral.
Beckham is also often stripping off to advertise his latest undies collection and makes millions every year for brands such as Armani, as well as raking in the cash with endorsement deals.
The LA Galaxy player is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and donates thousands to charities.
Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard was the only other current player to scrape in to the top 10, with players from the past proving more popular.
But despite having an outfield player record of 115 caps, Beckham was only voted England's second best player of all time behind Charlton.
"It is no surprise David came top. In recent years he has positioned himself as a sporting ambassador," The Daily Star quoted Bookmaker Carol spokesman, David Stevens, as saying.
