London, Aug 26 (ANI): Former Gunners player and Sweden captain Freddie Ljungberg fears that Arsenal will not recapture their days of glory that he enjoyed during his nine years at the club.
The Swedish midfielder, who quit football at the age of 35 last week, was part of the famous 'Invincibles' squad that went unbeaten through the 2003-04 season to win the Premier League.
"We were a special squad. Everyone was an established star in his own right, but we worked as a team, as a unit. It was a great time to be at Arsenal. I just hope those days come back," the Daily Mirror quoted Ljungberg, as saying.
"I am a fan like everyone else and I want us to win trophies. That hasn't happened for seven years and maybe Arsene Wenger doesn't get the funding," he added.
The former Swedish international had spells with West Ham and Scottish champions Celtic, but he admitted that his best days were at Arsenal.
The season we went unbeaten was, I would have to say, the most memorable," said Ljungberg, who also scored in the FA Cup Final win over Chelsea in Cardiff in 2002. (ANI)
