London, Aug 26 (ANI): Welsh classical singer Katherine Jenkins has called the police after web trolls sent her death threats, following her denial of having a fling with footie ace David Beckham.
One threatened to knife the opera star if David and Victoria split up in the wake of her decision to use Twitter to refute rumours of an affair with the ex-England skipper.
Other trolls said: "She's dead when I get her" and: "I will kill that s***."
"She was disgusted by the abuse because it was so sinister and scary," the Sun quoted a friend of the singer as saying.
"When she saw the messages she straight away wanted to protect herself by getting police involved," the friend said.
One of the trolls is a 17-year-old, whose identity is kept secret.
"Honestly, and you all said my dislike of Katherine Jenkins was irrational (it is, and that b**** is getting cut if David and Posh split," he tweeted.
"Emotional support will be needed if any truth comes from this. I love Posh and Becks," he wrote in another message.
A spokesman for 32-year-old Jenkins confirmed that "due to the serious nature of the threats, the tweets have been reported to the police."
"The threat to 'cut' her got to her the most. That guy crossed the line," a source close to the singer said.
The threats started after Katherine tweeted on Friday.
"I've read some horrible rumours on here and want you to know I absolutely deny I've had an affair with David Beckham. The rumours are hurtful, untrue and, my lawyers tell me, actionable," she had tweeted.
Her baffled fans later admitted they had no idea of the rumours.
Katherine, who split from TV presenter fiance Gethin Jones in December, told her 232,000 Twitter followers that she had never been alone with Beckham or arranged to meet him. (ANI)
