Tim Henman backs Murray 'to break Grand Slam duck'

London, Aug 26 (ANI): Veteran tennis player Tim Henman believes the withdrawal of an injured Rafa Nadal from the U.S. Open puts Andy Murray in prime position to break his Grand Slam duck.
The former British No.1 is confident Murray can ride the wave of Olympics euphoria by adding to the gold medal he won at Wimbledon earlier this month.
"Andy played so well at Wimbledon, and then beat Roger Federer to win an Olympic gold, so his confidence will be very high. The conditions always suit him in New York and it can help him that it is away from the intensity and pressure of Wimbledon, " the Daily Mirror quoted Henman, as saying.
"If he is going to win his first Slam which, with Rafa out he has every chance of doing, it might be better to do it elsewhere. So why not in New York?" he questioned.
Despite Murray being knocked out of the Cincinnati Masters and pulling out of the Toronto tournament in recent weeks, Henman argues that these setbacks will help him at the U.S. Open.
"In the context of his schedule it's a good thing. His displays at Wimbledon must have been emotionally draining. It's been non-stop. So now he can recharge his batteries and get ready for the big one," he said.
"The most important boost, of course, is winning Olympic gold at home against Federer on Centre Court. It looks like being the big breakthrough moment for Andy," he added. (ANI)
