Army chief begins three-day Ladakh visit

New Delhi/Leh, Aug.17 (ANI) : Chief of Army Staff, General Bikram Singh, arrived in Leh on Friday, on a three day visit to Ladakh.

This is his first visit to the region after taking over as army chief on May 31, 2012.

He was received at the Leh airfield by Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the army's Northern Command and 14 Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Rajan Bakshi.

General Singh had a detailed interaction with the Army Commander and the Corps Commander and was briefed on the prevailing security environment, infrastructure development projects and various initiatives undertaken by the army in the Ladakh Region.

The Army Chief expressed his satisfaction over the operational preparedness of the formation.

The Army Chief will visit forward deployment areas in the Siachen Glacier and Eastern Ladakh during next two days of his stay, a media release said. (ANI)
