WikiLeaks hit by 'denial-of-service' attack

Sydney, Mon, 13 Aug 2012 ANI

Sydney, Aug 13 (ANI): The secret-spilling group WikiLeaks has said it has been the victim of an online attack due to which its website was inaccessible for more than a week.

WikiLeaks said it has been flooded with ten gigabits per second of bogus traffic from thousands of Internet addresses after it fell victim of a sustained denial-of-service attack

In a statement released late on Saturday the group said the assault intensified at the beginning of August and has since expanded to include attacks against affiliated sites, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

WikiLeaks, which has released trove of classified US documents in the past, remained inaccessible yesterday. (ANI)
