New Delhi/Gurgaon, Aug 9 (ANI): The Rohini Court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda in connection with former airhostess Geetika Sharma suicide case.
Kanda, who skipped questioning for his alleged role in former airhostess Geetika Sharma suicide case, had moved the court for anticipatory bail.
The latest developments in this case took place after Delhi Police declared Kanda to be absconding, as he has been on the run.
Kanda, who resigned after former airhostess Geetika Sharma named him in her suicide note, has been charged with abetment of suicide and criminal intimidation.
Delhi Police, which had asked him to come for questioning in connection with this case, conducted raids at his home and a school owned by his family in Sirsa earlier this morning.
Sharma's family has accused Kanda of ruining her chances of working with the international Emirates airline, while pressurising her to remain with MDLR.
Meanwhile, Kanda's aide and MDLR official Aruna Chaddha has been remanded in two-day police custody in connection with this case.
Delhi Police arrested Chaddha, who also has been accused of abetting the suicide of former airhostess, earlier on Wednesday.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West), P. Karunakaran, made an announcement in this regard yesterday.
"Aruna Chadha has been arrested under sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 120-b (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code). Kanda is the main accused. He is absconding. We are conducting raids at various locations," he said.
23-year-old Geetika, a former airhostess with Kanda's now defunct MDLR airline, was found dead on Sunday at her Ashok Vihar residence in northwest Delhi.
In a suicide note found at her residence, Geetika accused Kanda and MDLR official Aruna Chaddha of repeatedly harassing her.
Delhi Police had earlier registered a case of abetment to suicide against Kanda on the basis of the suicide note. (ANI)
