Patna, Aug.5 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from the Ara constituency in Bihar Amrendra Pratap Singh is all set to become the Deputy Speaker of the state assembly after his nomination was not contested by anyone in the party.
Singh formally filed his nomination for the post on Sunday. He is likely to face the Rashtriya Janata Dal's Ramanand Yadav in what is being touted in state political circles as a foregone result.
A four-term MLA, Singh had met Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and state Assembly speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary in their respective chambers in the assembly on Friday.
A formal announcement of who will be the Deputy Speaker of the Bihar Assembly will be made on Monday when the monsoon session resumes. (ANI)
