Capello 'determined' to lead Russia into 2014 World Cup finals

London, Fri, 27 Jul 2012 ANI

London, July 27 (ANI): Former England boss Fabio Capello is aiming to rebuild his reputation after he agreed to become the new coach for the Russian football team.

The Italian has reportedly agreed a two-year-deal to take over from Dick Advocaat following the country's failure to make it to the group stages of Euro 2012.

"The contract runs for two years and my goal is to reach the finals of the World Cup in Brazil. After I had finished working in England, I was angry and I wanted to keep working. I really want to fight for the Cup in Brazil," the Daily Star quoted Capello, as saying.

It will be Capello's first job since he resigned from the England post in February, after losing the support of his FA bosses and he already showed his determination of leading Russia into the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

"I have a new beginning in a coaching career. I'll try to get my philosophy to match that which has brought the Russian national team success and we will go to the World Cup in Brazil," he added.

After taking charge in 2008 he was initially a great success, as England comfortably qualified for the 2010 World Cup, but it all went wrong subsequently, as a poor tournament performance ended the Three Lion being crushed with a 4-1 defeat by rivals Germany. (ANI)
