Peace and normalcy give boost developmental activities in Tripura

Katlamara (Tripura), July 25 (ANI): The developmental process in the state has received a major fillip of late, with the education sector leading the way in rural areas, where government sponsored schemes are pulling children to schools.

In places like Katlamara, the change is perceptible.

Earlier, education was affected by insurgency, but now parents send their children to school without any fear.

Central government sponsored schemes like the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan and the Midday Meal Scheme are made available to children, which further ensures greater enrollment in schools.

Suman Debbarma, a student, said, "I regularly come to school. Here we get stipends, book grants, free dress, and mid-day meals."

Interacting with mediaprsons, Debbrata Debbarma, Head Master of the village school said, "We give all round education for complete development. I joined as Headmaster in 2002 and it is peaceful here. In this school all the government schemes are available."

Life in the village has improved following decline in insurgency across the state.

Many shops have opened up and economic activities have increased.

People have access to clean drinking water and electricity, which were not available earlier. The village also has a primary health center.

Amrit Debbarma, a villager, said, "Earlier our village was in very poor condition but now there is peace. There is development in all spheres of life. We have access to electricity, water supply and improved roads. We were dependent on wells for drinking water but now we get a regular supply of water, and roads are also being built."

The hamlet has a good network of concrete roads, built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna.

The state government in collaboration with the Centre is in the process of constructing more roads in the region.

It is also helping the villagers get jobs under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Kajol Das, a MGNREGA beneficiary, said, "I have benefited a lot from the MGNREGA scheme. I earn an additional income along with my husband and it helps me meet my monthly expenditure. It also helps in better education of my children."

Militancy in Katlamara village had affected development in past, but with the advent of peace and normalcy, the region is now witnessing rapid growth. (ANI)
