London, July 25 (ANI): More than 100 athletes have been kept out of the London Olympics because of doping suspensions in the months leading up to the sporting event, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) President John Fahey said.
According to Sports 24, in the six months to mid-June, at least 107 athletes drew doping bans, ruling them out of the games, Fahey said.
Fahey on Tuesday announced the results of a program made to test athletes under suspicion before they arrived in London.
Fahey added that not all would have qualified to compete in the London Games.
"I am pleased to say that they are not with us," he said.
Banning drug cheats from the Olympics was achieved after sharing intelligence etween WADA, sports federations and London organizers, Fahey said.
"Athletes who dope should know that 'their chances of avoiding detection are the smallest they have ever been," Fahey said. (ANI)
