Maharashtra,Sports, Tue, 24 Jul 2012 IANS

Mumbai, July 24 (IANS) With both home and away wins mandatory to qualify, hosts Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana's Bawa Bullies stormed into the pre-quarter-finals in the Zarine and Yazdi Daruvala Charitable Trust Mumbai Billiards League organised by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra.

In the third and concluding round of the league phase, Bawa Bullies overcame Chembur Gymkhana's Titans to qualify from Group G, along with Mandpeshwar Civic Federation's Tough Men of Borivali. A solitary win for Titans would have seen them through while shunting out Bawa Bullies.

ECC's Farhad Tengra fired a break of 81 for the highest of the week, while his teammate Mahesh Jagdale added a 71. Golden Eagles captain Shekhar Surve constructed a break of 68.

The other significant breaks came from India sub junior number two and Maharashtra junior number one Jaiveer Dhingra (51) and Rohinton Daruwala (48 unfinished) for P.J. Hindu Gymkhana's Sultans of Hazard.
