Talking to mediapersons, Gurpreet Singh Rishi, a Congress party councilor, said, "Badal government has burdened people with Rs. 2100 crore and around 80 percent people cannot afford hike in power prices."

Rishi said that despite power tariff hike there was an inadequate power supply and that nobody was paying heed to their complaints.

"On behalf of the Congress party we distributed 1000 hand fans to the people and we are warning the Badal government that if they do not roll back the hike in power tariff, then we will intensify our protest," he added.

The protesters displayed placards and raised slogans against the hike, while lamenting the harsh policies of the state government. (ANI)
