London, July 20 (ANI): The Australian women basketball team has complained they were forced to fly in economy class, whereas the men's team flew in business class, hinting towards sexism.
The Opals did however get a last-minute upgrade to premium economy, Sky News reports.
However, Basketball Australia has denied sexism, and claimed the players' average heights determined their seating.
"Different factors are taken into account when organising travel arrangements for our national teams - height and size being a primary consideration," a spokesperson said.
It is not just Australian female athletes who found themselves at the back of the plane while the men turned left into first class as they boarded.
Recently, Japanese women football team had also raised similar concerns after they were forced to travel in the economy class and the Japanese men football team were arranged business class ahead of London Olympics. (ANI)
