Ferguson says Dalglish's stanch support to Suarez reason behind his Liverpool sacking

London, July 20(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said former Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish's unwavering support for striker Luis Suarez during the Patrice Evra race row was one of the main reasons behind his eventual sacking.

"I wasn't surprised at Kenny leaving. I think John Henry [the Liverpool owner] has obviously looked at the Suarez incident and felt it wasn't handled in the right way," The Daily Mirror quoted Ferguson, as saying.

"I think that must have been part of it. It certainly wasn't a nice thing to happen, you know," he added.

The FA banned Suarez for eight matches after an independent commission found him guilty of racially abusing United's Patrice Evra during a game last October.

Dalglish continued to back his striker, even after Suarez was found guilty, and claimed the player was the victim of a conspiracy.

Among Dalglish's ill-advised actions during the saga was his idea for the Liverpool squad to wear t-shirts in support of Suarez before a Premier League game. (ANI)
