Noted radio commentator Suresh Saraiya dies

Mumbai, July 18 (IANS) Suresh Saraiya, well-known cricket commentator on radio, died following a heart attack Wednesday evening. He was 76 and survived by daughter Neeta.

Saraiya was popular commentator on All India Radio for over 40 years and was part of a commentary team for over 100 Test matches played in India, England, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies and South Africa.

He also commentated in the World Cup matches and other One-Day Internationals.He began his career as a commentator, with the first Test match was at the Brabourne Stadium in 1969 against Bill Lawry's Australia team.

His last Test was against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in November last year.

Saraiya retired as Public Relations Officer of Central Bank of India. He was a also regular contributor to various Gujarati newspapers and periodicals.
