Indian superstar Rajesh Khanna dies at 69

New Delhi, July 18(ANI): Hindi filmdom's original superstar Rajesh Khanna, who was reportedly battling cancer, passed away on Wednesday afternoon at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. He was 69.

The veteran had been suffering from bad health for quite sometime and had already visited the hospital thrice due to ill health.

He was admitted to Lilavati hospital on April 1 after complaining of weakness and fatigue. The star was later discharged in three to four days.

On June 23, Khanna was admitted again and spent two weeks there. He was hospitalised for the third time on July 14 due to weakness and low blood pressure.

According to reports, the star, who was fondly called as Kaka, had suffered liver damage due to his alcohol addiction.

A highly placed source informed Dailybhaskar.com that the superstar wasn't responding to medicines.

"Kaka is not responding to medicines, he is on drips as there is no intake of food and is lying lifeless on his bed. He was grasping for breath since morning," the source had revealed.

The source further revealed that the actor was on an artificial respirator.

The actor was surrounded by family members in his last moments.

Son-in-law Akshay Kumar too arrived after cancelling a shoot in the wake of the veteran's deteriorating health. (ANI)
