Washington, July 14 (ANI): Apple has said that it is probing reports that a Russian programmer has figured out and revealed how to make "in-app" purchases for free.
Russian hacker Alexey Borodin discovered a method to steal content from iOS apps by making in-app purchases without actually paying any money.
In-app purchases are most commonly found in free games that entice users to spend a little money to enhance gaming experience.
In a video, posted by Borodin, he is seen applying the method to various apps, including Temple Run.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Natalie Harrison, an Apple spokeswoman, said that the firm was investigating the matter.
"The security of the App Store is incredibly important to us and the developer community. We take reports of fraudulent activity very seriously, and we are investigating," Harrison said.
According to the paper, the method to make illegal purchases was first reported in English by 9 to 5 Mac on early Friday.
According to the Next Web, which spoke with Borodin, over 30,000 illegal purchases had been made using it. (ANI)
