London, July 14(ANI): Rugby league ace player Jamie Bloem has been quizzed by the cops on suspicion of having sex with an under-age girl following a complaint to the police.
The former South African international, who is now a referee in Britain, was quizzed and then released on bail.
The star had a controversial playing career with Halifax, Huddersfield, Doncaster and Castleford. He was disciplined after several rows with the authorities.
Bloem has since become a referee and was tipped to make it to the Super League next season.
"A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a child in connection with an ongoing child protection investigation," The Sun quoted a police spokesman, as saying.
"He has been bailed pending further inquiries," he added.
A spokesman for governing body the Rugby Football League said it was aware of the police investigation. (ANI)
