Mumbai, July 13 (ANI): Baroda all-rounder Irfan Pathan will replace Karnataka fast bowler R. Vinay Kumar for the forthcoming one-day tour of Sri Lanka, after the latter suffered a Grade I right hamstring injury while training on July 12.
Kumar is expected to regain match-fitness in three weeks time.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee named Pathan as his replacement in the Indian squad.
Indian selectors had earlier announced the team for the five-match ODI series and one off T20 match in Sri Lanka on July 7.
There were no major surprises. Sachin Tendulkar opted out of the series, while opener Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan, who were not a part of the Asia Cup squad in March, return to national duty.
Mumbai opener Ajinkya Rahane who enhanced his reputation during this year's Indian Premier League (IPL), was also selected.
Left-arm Pragyan Ojha gets a look-in, along with fast bowler Umesh Yadav. The Indian team also has Ravichandran Ashwin and Rahul Sharma as specialist spinners. (ANI)
Among others included in the squad are skipper M.S. Dhoni, vice-captain Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ashok Dinda. (ANI)
