Sharon Stone 'nearly died twice'
London, July 9 (ANI): Sharon Stone has opened up about two of her near death experiences.
The first one was after she finished making her breakthrough 1990 film Total Recall, co-starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"I was driving along Sunset Boulevard and was confronted by a car driving straight at me on the wrong side of the road," the Daily Express quoted her as saying.
"I was hit head on and don't know how I escaped with my life. I dislocated my jaw, sprained my back, broke a rib and twisted a knee. I was put in a back brace and told to stay in bed for six months," she said.
"It gave my mind a clear-out. It was an opportunity to write, do a lot of introspective thinking, discover who my true friends were and get rid of those who showed at that moment they didn't care at all for me," she said.
She claimed that she saw "the white light", when she nearly died of a near-fatal aneurysm in 2001.
While the Basic Instinct star managed to survive, she has revealed that she came very close to death and even saw people close to her she knew had died.
"Compared to that illness nothing has been so difficult," she said.
"It was as if I had been shot in the head.
"I have always feared having a stroke for some reason yet when it happened I did not take it seriously enough. I was left with a splitting headache and none of the things I said seemed to make sense. I finally went to hospital after three days," she said.
There was an immediate operation but the aneurysm itself was missed.
"They thought I had a ruptured vessel that had bled itself out. So another nine days went by when I was not improving," Sharon said.
"During the next operation they found an artery that was pumping blood into my brain. They put in platinum to shut it off. I was close to death at one point and saw the white light that people claim they see.
"I did see people who I knew had died, as close and real as any living being," she said.
The 54-year-old actress, who is dating a man half her age - 27-year-old Argentinian model Martin Mica, said that it was just a matter of a step and she would have joined the dead.
"I felt that I only had to step over a very narrow line and I would have joined them. What kept me back? It was just not my time," she added. (ANI)
