Amritsar, July 9 (ANI): Wrestlers in Amritsar today organised a special prayer for ailing former wrestling champion and veteran Bollywood actor Dara Singh.
They offered prayers to Lord Hanuman and wished for the recovery and good health of Dara Singh.
"Our group of wrestlers is praying for the health and fitness of Dara Singh, who earned name across the country and gave motivation to other wrestlers. We prayed to Lord Hanuman for his speedy recovery. We prayed for him so that he recovers soon and earn more rewards for the country," said Kamal Pehlwan, a wrestler.
According to a medical bulletin issued on Monday by the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, the actor's is said to be very critical and he is undergoing dialysis in bid to get his kidney's to function.
"He is extremely critical. He is still on ventilator and needs a high level of oxygen. His kidneys are not functioning the way they should, so we have to put him on dialysis," said Dr. Ram Narain, COO, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
The 84-year- old actor was admitted to the hospital here on Saturday evening following a cardiac arrest.
Dara Singh, who has over 500 professional fights to his credit, played the role of Hanuman in the television adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayan. He also worked in some television serial shows, including Had Kar Di, which was aired on Zee TV.
He has acted in over 100 films. His latest Hindi movie is Jab We Met, and his latest Punjabi movie is Dil Apna Punjabi. (ANI)
