New Delhi, July 5 (ANI): Top brass of the Pakistan Rangers and Border Security Force (BSF) discussed frontier-related issues such as smuggling, inadvertent crossings, human sufferings and instances of ceasefire violation along the boundary during their talks in New Delhi.
An 18-member Pakistani delegation comprising officials of the border force and the Interior Ministry, led by Pakistan Rangers Director General (Sindh) Major General Rizwan Akhtar had arrived here on four-day visit earlier this week.
Akhtar had a meeting with Border Security Force (BSF) Director General U.K. Bansal, and sorted out modalities to implement the respective mandates.
"We will be able to complete our respective mandates with a higher level of efficiency and better results. Be it in the area of cross-border smuggling or inadvertent border crossings from both the sides or taking measures to ameliorate the human sufferings of people on the border due to any unpleasant incident, which happens there," said Bansal.
"Some modalities have worked out and we intend to work out some further modalities," he added.
Akhtar agreed that unprovoked firing and ceasefire violations along the border were uncalled for.
"We had a detailed discussion regarding the cross border firing. Border guards of the both the countries agreed that such blatant action should not take place from the either side at the border or at the Line of Control (LoC)," he added.
Talks between the two border guarding forces aimed at thrashing out a host of issues including recent incidents of firing and ceasefire violations. (ANI)
