Chandigarh, July 4 (IANS) With heat wave continuing and monsoon's arrival delayed in Punjab, the government Wednesday ordered the closure of all schools in the state till July 8.

Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka said that all middle, high and higher secondary schools in the state would remain closed till July 8 in view the extreme heat in state and the delayed monsoon.

The Punjab government had earlier this week ordered that primary schools be closed till July 8 due to the heat wave.

The minister, however, clarified that teachers and administrative staff would attend the schools regularly to clear pending academic and administrative work.
