London, July 3 (ANI): Jemima Khan proved that she was still close with her brother's estranged wife, Kate Goldsmith, despite the banking heiress' alleged infidelity and the couple's bitter public spat on Twitter.
The two women compared notes on the racist insults they had each received via the social networking site.
Barely three weeks after Ben Goldsmith, the financier, and Rothschild confirmed that they were to divorce, the sisters-in-law were both targeted by fellow Twitter users and joined forces in expressing their disgust.
The ex wife of former Pakistani Cricketer Imran Khan was criticised after she tweeted a joke involving her own daughter which said:
"Overheard last night at 3am: Muslim teen (mine) to Irish teen.
'You don't have to get drunk to have a good time at a party, you know?'" the Telegraph reported.
The 38-year-old was subsequently bombarded with abuse and re-tweeted several comments from people accusing her of being racist.
She was forced to defend herself, replying: "The original joke was on my son for being hilariously sanctimonious."
Rothschild, whose affair with Jay Electronica, an American rapper, was blamed for the breakdown of her marriage, responded by sending Khan a sample of racist messages that she had been sent, telling her that they were sick.
"It's sickening," she wrote.
"People should see the full horror of the hate out there though. They shld be named and shamed imo (in my opinion)," she wrote.
Goldsmith, a millionaire green investor, announced that he would be divorcing Rothschild, the mother of his three children, on the grounds of adultery last month.
He claimed to have discovered incriminating messages on his wife's phone and was arrested and cautioned after slapping her and injuring her leg with a child's toy during a showdown at their home
The two then traded insults via Twitter, with Goldsmith claiming it was too late for his wife to fix her reputation and suggesting she focus on her "devastated" children.
They eventually called a truce, releasing a joint statement in which they admitted they were wrong to detail the breakdown of their marriage on Twitter. (ANI)
