Wellington, July 3(ANI): Test specialists Brendon McCullum, Neil Wagner, Chris Martin, Daniel Vettori and Kruger van Wyk have all been asked to join the New Zealand squad earlier than their scheduled time in order to give a boost to their injury-hit one-day squad.
Kiwi coach Wright said he had asked New Zealand Cricket to send the test specialists to the Caribbean earlier than planned, and some could be used at the back end of the five-match ODI series, which begins in Kingston, Jamaica, on Friday.
With Ross Taylor and Jacob Oram both injured, the side is light on senior players and 21-year-old Kane Williamson is taking over the captaincy duties from Taylor.
"Those guys could all be here a little earlier than we originally expected," Stuff.co.nz quoted Wright, as saying.
Wright said he had not decided whom to play, or if McCullum would replace Williamson as skipper. (ANI)
