New Delhi, June 28 (ANI): A day after Pakistan's Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik dismissed India's assertion of 'state support' to the terrorists behind 26/11 massacre, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna on Thursday New Delhi does not want to get into any kind of slanging match with Islamabad, and added that there is a need to look at the brighter side.
"We do not want to get into some kind of a slanging match with any distinguished personnel from Pakistan. Our efforts are directed for a constructive, cooperative agenda, I think the mutual recrimination has to seize, and we have to look into the brighter side that is available to both Pakistan and India," said Krishna.
Malik had earlier on Wednesday rejected Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram's assertion of 'state support' to the terrorists behind 26/11 massacre, saying the ISI was a target of 'propaganda campaign'.
"We are proud of our ISI, which is defending Pakistan," Malik told media in Islamabad, adding the ISI's role in the war on terror was 'well recognised by everybody' but the spy agency was the target of a propaganda campaign.
He dismissed assertions by Indian leaders, including Chidambaram, that Pakistani state and non-state actors were involved in the Mumbai terror attacks and firmly defended the ISI as an 'elite agency'.
Chidambaram had earlier on Wednesday said India has got enough information that there was state support for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
"I can't share with you the contents of the interrogation report, but I can give you a broad idea. He (Abu Jundal) has confirmed that he was in the control room and he has named a few people, who were in the control room. He has identified a few people in the control room. So, that confirms our suspicion that it was an organized effort, which had some kind of state support. The argument that it was non-state actors who were behind the 26/11 massacre is no longer valid," said Chidambaram, when asked to comment on the Abu Jindal's interrogation.
"We have already said that some state support was there for these people and that's broadly confirmed by what Abu Jundal has told our investigating agency. But obviously until in the investigation and interrogation is complete, we are not going to share it with anyone. We will have to eventually share it with the court. Now, when I say state actors, at the moment I am not pointing a figure to any particular agency, but clearly there was state support for the 26/11 massacre," he added.
Chidambaram further said New Delhi will continue to put pressure on Islamabad to apprehend the accomplices and masterminds still taking shelter in that country.
Abu Jindal was arrested on his arrival from Saudi Arabia at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport by Delhi Police on June 21.
He is currently in the custody of Special Cell till July 5.
According to reports, Jindal has admitted his active role in the 26/11 attack, saying he had worked in close tandem with terror mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.
He has during his interrogation confessed his role in the countries worst terror attack and admitted that he was present in the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) control room in Karachi from where direction was being to the 10 terrorists who carried out the strike. (ANI)
