Wingsuit-clad Swiss daredevil pilot flies alongside plane for first time

Melbourne, June 27 (ANI): Swiss daredevil Yves Rossy - nicknamed 'Jetman' - stunned passengers on a plane by flying alongside them for seven minutes.

Powered by his jet-propelled wing, Rossy flew at more than 200km an hour over Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, the Herald Sun reported.

It was the first time the 53-year-old daredevil has flown beside a passenger aircraft - a 1940s Breitling Douglas DC-3.

The former Swiss International Airlines captain was dropped by a helicopter from an altitude of 6,000ft.

He stabilised himself with his rigid carbon Kevlar backpack before flying at eye level with the plane's occupants.

When his fuel ran out, he safely parachuted to the ground at Buochs airport.

The stuntman, who previously worked as a military pilot, became the first and only man in the history of aviation to fly with a jet-propelled wing in 2006.

He has previously completed flights over the Swiss Alps, the English Channel and the Grand Canyon in the US.

His custom-built flight suit weighs almost 55kg and has a wing span of two metres. (ANI)
